The recent and ongoing global pandemic of COVID-19 has surely affected nearly every aspect of our lives, if not every part of our lives. As a global community we have had to adapt and go within, staying home and isolating ourselves from life outside our little realms.
From my perspective COVID-19 is a wake up call on many levels. One in particular is our health.
Health as defined by Medical News Today (Jul 31, 2017) states that, “Health can be defined as physical, mental and social wellbeing, and as a resource for living a full life. It refers not only to the absence of disease, but the ability to recover and bounce back from illness and other problems. Factors for good health include genetics, the environment, relationships and education”.
Wow, I mean astounding quote right there about health… Health is clearly a multi-faceted entity. A powerful source for literally “living a full life”. Within the many scopes of health, shouldn’t our skincare fall under an important category of health? I say yes, absolutely! Come on, our skin is only our bodies largest organ! Our skin is our bodies first line of defense that protects all the precious functioning parts of our body keeping it safe and protected! Our health you could even say, starts with our skin first. Lets talk more skin, shall we?
I believe more than ever, now is the best time to take charge of our health on whatever scope needs to be addressed. Love the person that is you. Come out of crisis better than before and have some rockin’, glowing skin that just radiates.
I also believe that because we all have had to stay home and mostly indoors, its easy to pass on the self care that is so essential. But please, don’t! Your skin, just like the rest of your body depends on how you nourish and take care of it.
I also believe that working from home is going to become more of the “new normal”. Companies will see how productive working from home can be. This means less time getting dolled up and running to the office, and more making that 5 second commute to your desk.
Where does all this lead me to? I feel we are going to see a wave of women turning to a more natural, softer look. A look of true health. Less is more concept. Makeup? I think makeup is here to stay but in a more practical approach, quality vs. quantity. Think of makeup as your extension of your skincare. Using toxin free, clean ingredients that boost your health and remove the potential for disastrous health problems down the road starts now. Applying the concepts of less is more will become not only the trend in makeup but the desirable goal. Think about it, who wants to apply a full face of makeup when you are working from home? Or better yet, why would you cake on only to cover up healthy glowing skin?
I also feel that more and more people will be turning towards the holistic realms of skincare. Why? This brings me back to the above quote: Because holistic is health centered, focused on addressing the unique treatment of the whole person, taking into account all areas of life; physical, mental, social… remember a “full life”.
As I always say, we are all bio-individuals. Nothing, I mean nothing is a one size fits all when it comes to us as bio-individuals. So holistic skincare, remedies and therapeutics fill that role. Think of it as intuitive and customized skincare health! Its so fun to figure out what works and what doesn’t work for each person. Its a juxtaposition of art and science and getting the sequence just right and adjusting it as time and life ebbs and flows.
Your skin, just like the rest of your body wants you to be proactive in caring and nurturing it back to health. Health doesn’t come from a magic syringe or a magic potion. Remember the “whole” concept? Eating healthy foods, avoiding stress (living in fear) and eliminating toxins, moving your body, practicing mindful, deep breathing (without a mask) partaking in things that bring you joy, having a sense of community, a knowing that there is a good higher power that surrounds your beautiful life every single day. This is all the true meaning of health. Its time we reclaim our sovereignty and take back what is fundamental to our health as human beings. Beautiful skin is health and health is beautiful skin. I am so happy that you are choosing to partake on this journey to true health. I am happy to support you along the way!
Sending love, healing and health to you now and always!
